📢 Important Update: SURPS for the 2025-26 Academic Year
We want to share an important update regarding the Symposium of Undergraduate Research and Public Service (SURPS). Due to ongoing budget reductions, the The Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) will host only one SURPS event during the 2025-26 academic year.
This year’s symposium will take place in April during Admit Weekend. As a result, the Fall SURPS event traditionally held during Reunion Homecoming will be discontinued.
This change - along with others across VPUE - helps us preserve robust support for our grant programs, which directly fund student engagement in original scholarship and public service.
We remain deeply committed to celebrating the outstanding work of our undergraduate researchers and look forward to showcasing their achievements in the Spring.
Symposium of Undergraduate Research and Public Service (SURPS)
The Symposium of Undergraduate Research and Public Service (SURPS) provides an opportunity for Stanford undergraduates to present their research, arts, senior synthesis, and public service projects to the broader university community. Undergraduates from all disciplines share their current and recent academic work, showcasing the diversity of topics, approaches, and interests at Stanford. SURPS also serves as a resource for students who are not yet engaged in these pursuits, offering insight into how peers have developed their intellectual interests, built projects, and formed connections with faculty and community partners. The event brings together students, faculty, staff, prospective students, and alumni to witness how undergraduate work contributes to faculty research and serves the greater community.
